[instagram]http://instagram.com/clarkeboehling[/instagram]I was derailed from academia by the allure of the vine and its fruits, and relocated from my native Virginia to Brooklyn in 2005 to pursue a career in wine. I spent four years at Skurnik Wines as their French portfolio manager, and accepted a position with the legendary importer Neal Rosenthal in 2009—first, building a base of clients in NYC and PA for Neal’s rugged, low-tech, deeply authentic wines, and now, as “producer liaison,” visiting Rosenthal’s 115 growers twice per year to check in.
A lifelong enthusiast of writing, I also generate all of the company’s written content and regularly issued special offerings. I am a hopeless obsessive about Burgundy—truly the final frontier for anyone interested in wine’s uncanny ability to express a sense of place with incredible and dependable specificity.
About Rosenthal: The Mad Rose Group is a family-run organization that is composed of a close-knit group of people who understand that wine is an agricultural product. The portfolio represents wines from Italy, France, Spain and Catalonia that all reflect a specific sense of place.
